Ameriflora ’92, Columbus, 1991
Entertainment program development
(with Management Resources)
Early in 1991, Management Resources of Tustin, CA, invited Hamilton McClymont
to come to Columbus for two days to assess Ameriflora 92’s entertainment plans
for the upcoming world exposition. Though the term of the assignment was short,
the Fair’s entertainment plan was reviewed in the context of the marketing strategy
for the event. While marketing targets relied on multiple visits by local residents,
proposed entertainment was based on hiring a number of acts and running them
for the duration of the Fair. To get marketing and entertainment plans in sync,
McClymont recommended that entertainment programming be rolled over a number
of times during the fair, to ensure that the local market could enjoy new attractions
on each visit. The Fair altered its entertainment plans accordingly.
